PRELIMINARY
USERS MENU
The ECView Pro platform provides administrator authentication and
authorization for all the administration control connections. The
authorization provides three management levels of read-write and read-
only access.
TYPES OF USER
ROLES
Each user name is allowed to assume any one of the following roles:
1. Administrator Role
This role gives the ECView Pro platform user full access to all the
features of NMS. Users with the Administrator role have the option to
increase or limit the access rights to the ECView Pro platform of users
with the Operator role or the Viewer role.
For example:
■
The administrator wants to give a user with an Operator role full
access to all the functions in the Reporting feature.
■
The administrator wants to give a user with a Viewer role access to
some functions on the Mapping feature.
Points to remember about the Administrator username:
■
You must remember the administrator’s password to be able to
login to the ECView Pro platform and access all its features. If you
have forgotten the administrator password, you can change it by
logging in using another user name with an administrator role or
any user that can access the Manage Users option. Otherwise, you
will have to reinstall NMS.
■
You can change or update the administrator’s password, but you
cannot delete or modify its user name or change the role of the
Administrator.
2. Operator Role
A user with an Operator role has access to some of the features of
NMS, but this access is governed by the Administrator.
3. Viewer Role
A user with a Viewer role has very limited access and can perform only
a small subset of functions. A user with a Viewer role does not have
privileges to change any NMS settings, but depending on the
Administrator’s requirement, a user with a Viewer role can also have
enough access rights to other features.
